Punk and pious: Muslim-American rockers’ unconventional Islam
The notion of Muslim punk rock may seem like a mishmash of cultures. Profanity-laden lyrics come after the religion’s traditional greeting, “Salaam aleikum.” Melodic Middle Eastern strumming punctuates noisy guitar feedback.
